The Smallpeice Trust has teamed up with BA CREST to offer our Year 9 students taking part in the 'Engineering experience' courses the opportunity to apply for a Bronze Award.
What is BA CREST?
BA CREST is a national award scheme for project work in science, engineering and technology. It's co-ordinated by the BA (British Association for the Advancement of Science, www.the-ba.net/crest), a charity which exists to advance the understanding, accessibility and accountability of the sciences and engineering.
BA CREST Awards are available at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels, depending on the amount and depth of work you carrry out.
Why would I want to apply for this award?
In taking part in the 'Engineering experience' course you're already demonstrating many of the skills you need to obtain a BA CREST Award. It is worth linking this activity with the award for several reasons:
- It's a way of having work completed at the residential course accredited nationally;
a Bronze BA CREST Award is a significant achievment.- It provides evidence of problem-solving skills and motivates students to complete BA CREST at Silver and Gold level.
- It can form part of a personal record of achievement and help with university applications later on.
- Provides opportunities for involvement in regional and national BA CREST events.
Further details of this opportunity will be provided once students have applied for a course and upon receipt of joining instructions.
