You’re going to teach them what?
We run short residential courses as well as in-school STEM sessions to promote engineering to young people from the ages of 10 to 17.
Short taster residential courses
These cover a range of subjects and mainly take place at universities throughout the UK.
Attending one of our courses will give students the opportunity to learn more about engineering and meet like-minded people. They will gain experience of university and industry that will accelerate their personal development and their potential for greater academic achievement.
Residential programmes begin at Year 9 with Engineering Experience and Marine Technology courses. These are designed for students who are considering their GCSE options. We offer a continuum of courses, year on year, up to Year 12. During the courses, students will have access to material and equipment that may not be available in school, giving them a unique opportunity to build on their existing knowledge of engineering and technology.
Projects and workshops are based on real-life scenarios and engineering professionals are always on hand to offer advice and guidance.
One of the course’s most valuable elements is team-building. This helps develop the interpersonal skills needed to succeed on the programme and in their future careers.

We need you to inform your students about our engineering courses and encourage them to join. Although students can of course, come on their own, we have places for teachers to get involved in the action too. By taking on a supervisory role with us, you’ll have a greater awareness of our programmes and can help develop your students' interest in the fascinating world of engineering. You will also receive up to £240 of high street vouchers.
To make it even easier for you to tell your students about our courses, we've produced a new student sign up sheet for schools. Simply complete and print off (or photocopy) for your students and hand out in class.
STEM enrichment days
As well as providing residential courses, we also run in-school STEM sessions. These involve visiting schools for short introductory sessions with Year 6-11 students who have a particular interest in, or aptitude for, problem-solving, design, manufacturing or engineering.
Easy to organise, they’re inspiring and fun for everyone taking part. Groups of 50 students work together in small teams on ‘design and make’ projects to improve their creative thinking and problem-solving skills. For students in the process of choosing Key Stage 4 options, these STEM day activities are especially geared to run as a complement to the National Curriculum in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.
We will work with teachers to decide on the most suitable project work for your students. The activities are varied and range from designing, testing, and refining motorcars powered by super-capacitors to propelled gliders, wind turbines, and bridges. We will fit the course around whatever rooms and equipment are available.
Times are flexible to suit normal school hours and activities can be half or full day. Costs are £495 plus expenses agreed at the time of booking. Hotel and meal expenses may be applicable depending on location.
