Giving you the inside track on life in the fast lane, this course is designed to give you a unique insight into the engineering and technology involved in the development of a competitive race car. You will learn the value of teamwork in a high pressure environment and gain a detailed and practical knowledge of the engineering principles, materials and technologies that shape the cutting edge world of professional motorsport.
What will I be doing?
• Theoretical and practical exercises to develop your understanding of engine performance, traction, chassis dynamics and aerodynamics
• Hands-on CAD sessions in the workshop, Finite Element analysis, prototype manufacture and testing of race car components
• Learning how developments in motorsport influence the design of mainstream production cars
• Visiting a major motorsport constructor
• Experiencing teamwork in a competitive environment with help from the hugely popular Formula Schools and Formula Student programmes
• Taking part in a kart race
• Meeting recent engineering graduates working in the motor industry today
