BMW  – Plant Hams Hall

The BMW factory at Hams Hall, North Warwickshire plays an important role within BMW Group’s global production network as the centre of competence and sole producer of all four-cylinder petrol engines within the group.

The plant was the company’s first engine plant to be opened outside of Germany or Austria and engines built at Hams Hall have been powering vehicles across the BMW range since the factory first commenced volume production in 2001.

Currently engines are supplied to four vehicle production plants in Germany and plants in South Africa and Austria, for models within the BMW 1, 3 and 5 series and X3 ranges.

In 2006 the plant extended its product line-up and increased its customer base with the introduction of a second family of award-winning petrol engines for the Oxford-built MINI.

DHL – The logistics company for the world

Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ)

Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) is an intelligence and security organisation. Jaguar Land Rover

Jaguar Land Rover is a business built around two great British car brands that are designed, engineered and manufactured in the UK. Magnox North

Magnox North is responsible for five sites across England, Wales and Scotland. Our site operations include electricity generation at Oldbury in South Gloucestershire, Wylfa and Maentwrog in North Wales as well as defuelling and decommissioning former generating power stations at Chapelcross in Dumfriesshire, Hunterston A in Ayrshire and Trawsfynydd, also in North Wales.

Our experienced and skilled workforce share the same goal – to achieve the safe delivery of the operations and decommissioning programmes on the five sites that we operate on behalf of our customer, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.

Rolls-Royce Aerospace

Royal Air Force

The primary mission of the RAF is to defend our country. But there’s more to the RAF than that. They also run Search and Rescue operations around Britain, and are always on call to help with disaster relief operations around the world – for example in the aftermath of the Asian tsunami.

Royal Navy

The Royal Navy is a unique combination of land, sea and air capabilities merged into a single, adaptable and dynamic force. It plays a major role in the UK’s affairs and is vital to the nation’s future expeditionary capability. The Royal Navy is involved in operations and exercises throughout the world. These may vary from single ships or submarines to an entire task group and often take place away from the media spotlight. Nonetheless the Royal Navy is constantly at work defending interests worldwide. The Royal Navy currently has 37,500 people of which approximately 6,000 are in the Royal Marines.

RWE npower renewables

RWE npower renewables is the UK subsidiary of RWE Innogy and one of the UK’s leading renewable energy developers and operators. We are committed to developing and operating renewable energy projects to produce sustainable electricity.

We operate 21 hydroelectric power schemes, 27 onshore wind farms and two offshore wind farms, including the UK’s first major offshore wind farm, North Hoyle. RWE npower renewables is currently constructing its first biomass CHP power plant in Scotland, and the 576 megawatt Gwynt y Mor Offshore Wind farm, off the North Wales coast.

From development, to construction and operation, our 453 staff in area offices across Wales, Scotland and England work in close partnership with local communities and with companies. In 2012, renewable energy sites operated by RWE npower renewables invested nearly £1 million into communities across the UK.

Southern Water

Southern Water supplies fresh, quality drinking water to more than one million households and treats and recycles wastewater from nearly two million households across Sussex, Kent, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Each day the company supplies 555 million litres of drinking water from our 90 water treatment works along more than 13,600 kilometres of water mains to the customers’ taps.

Southern Water is owned by Greensands Investments Limited, a consortium made up of pension and infrastructure funds.

Transport for London

Transport for London (TfL) is the integrated body responsible for the Capital’s transport system, accountable for both the planning and delivery of transport facilities to ensure a truly integrated approach to how people, goods and services move around London.

TfL manages London’s buses, London Underground (LU), the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), London Overground and London Trams. It also runs London River Services (LRS), Victoria Coach Station (VCS), the London Transport Museum, London’s Congestion Charging scheme and the Barclay’s Cycle hire scheme. As well as managing 580 km network of main roads, it also regulates the taxi and the private hire trade.

Every day, more than 24 million journeys are made on the TfL network, with over 3.5 million journeys made on the Tube and more than 6 million on buses. Of the 25,000 TfL employees, 6,000 are employed in engineering roles.

UK Electronic Skills Foundation

The UK Electronics Skills Foundation is an educational charity, launched in 2010, which operates collaboratively with major companies, leading universities and other organisations to tackle the skills shortage in the Electronics sector. The UKESF ensures that more schoolchildren are aware of Electronics and the opportunities available, helping them to develop their interest through to university study. At university, the UKESF supports undergraduates and prepares them for the workplace

Ultra Electronics

Ultra Electronics specialises in electronic, electro-mechanical and software solutions for the defence, security, transport and energy markets.
