Smart Speed is live!

Coding Success 5: Smart Speed includes 4 adaptable Missions. Each Mission can be adapted to meet pupils’ needs and tailored to meet the time available. Teachers choose the best route for their learners – the beginner, intermediate or advanced route. See the Route Guide in Essential Resources to help support you in making this choice.

Reaction Tracker

Mission 1:

The Reaction tracker!

An introduction to SPIKE Prime hardware and coding using Word Blocks (beginner and intermediate route) or Python (advanced route). Test human reaction times using the Reaction Tracker

Mission 2:

The Multi-mover

Program the SPIKE Prime Multi-Mover using Word Blocks or Python. Add attachments and code it to move forwards, backwards, turn and move objects on the airbase Mission Mat

Mission 3:

Smart sensors

Using different attachments, program the colour and distance sensors to  have the Multi-Mover detect, collect, move and deliver objects to different locations on the Mission Mat

Gear up, gear down!

Learn about gearing up, gearing down and gear ratios. Test how different gear combinations affect speed and strength.

Beginner

The ‘Beginner’ plan (B) is designed for pupils who are new to coding or who are building their confidence

The ‘Intermediate’ plan (I) is designed for pupils who have some experience of coding and are ready for more challenge
