Our commitment to Safeguarding

Keeping young people safe
At The Smallpeice Trust safety is our number one priority. Our commitment to best practice makes every effort to protect all children and young people from harm, abuse, neglect and/or exploitation.
We want children and young people to accessing our programmes to have fun and stay safe as they learn.
How we keep young people safe
- Make sure all staff and volunteers working directly with young people undergo the relevant checks to ensure they’re suitable
- Staff and volunteers are supervised and supported in their work
- Staff leading events undertake significant induction and training, including in safeguarding, first aid, administration of medication and responding to mental health concerns
- We operate a minimum 1:10 adult to child ratio on our residential events
- All venues and activities are risk assessed
- We collect information on medical and other support needs where relevant to ensure we can best support everyone accessing our programmes
- We help children and young people to treat each other with respect

- Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy
- Missing Child Policy

Staying Safe Online
