Connect days and virtual events

We have a wide variety of virtual events and Connect days running throughout the year:

Webinars and
virtual events

We aim to run at least one virtual event per month during term time.

They cover a wide range of subjects (e.g. Automotive engineering, Energy or AI) and will give you the opportunity to ask questions to industry and education professionals.

Even if you’re not usually interested in that topic, we’d still encourage you to join as you might learn something new and exciting. As a reminder you are required to attend at least 2 virtual webinars in each year of your Scholarship.

Connect days

For sponsored Scholars, you will receive notifications of the in-person industry Connect Days that are running. As with our virtual events, the locations and industries can vary widely but we’d advise you to express interest in as many as possible as spaces are often limited and we prioritise access to Scholars with engineering interests that match the industry.

We will notify scholars as these become available but if you’d like to sign up for an event then please head over to our events calendar

Mentoring

If you have been matched with a mentor then make sure to take advantage of the knowledge and experience they can share with you. You can ask them for advice on pathways, discuss your interests and learn about the things they have encountered during their career. Within the first few months of your Scholarship, you will receive an invitation to join our online, secure mentoring platform, MentorNet. This is where you’ll be introduced to your mentor and will be able to contact them and setup meetings.

Existing Scholars can access MentorNet here:

For sponsored Scholars

Mentors are often provided by your sponsoring organisation. However, where they are unable to provide one for you, we will provide you with a Mentor (often aligned to your area(s) of interest). All mentoring relationships are assigned centrally by the Arkwright team at the beginning of the Scholarship.

For virtual Scholars

You will have access to a group mentor on our online platform, enabling you to ask questions of them through our mentoring forums, as well as engage with your fellow group members.
