After spending 23 years in the RAF, Chief Technician Wood was looking for a new career and the world of education was a natural next step.

Having worked on Harrier jets, Peter started training the Air Force Engineers of the future from the Defence College of Aeronautical Engineering at Cosford.

After leaving the forces Peter worked for Dudley College teaching Engineering Apprentices on Level 3, BTEC and HNC courses specialising in Engineering subjects.   His love of mathematics was fulfilled when he gained a degree in the subject by studying part time.

Following a conversation with the husband of one of our Smallpeice Trust colleagues, Peter shadowed a couple of STEM events and then joined the team as an Education Officer.

He is married with two adult children and in his spare time he enjoys playing field hockey and riding his motorbike.

His advice to young people looking for a career is ‘do what you enjoy’.
