Presented by The Smallpeice Trust, this transformative course invites secondary school pupils to embark on an exhilarating journey, daring them to envision the world of tomorrow alongside peers who share their passion for STEM. Picture your child tackling real-life engineering challenges, engaging in exciting projects with like-minded young innovators, and gaining a taste of independence while staying at the esteemed Queen's University Belfast. Tailored for 12 to 14-year-old students (Years 9/10), this extraordinary experience promises not only skill-building but a chance for your child to cultivate lifelong friendships and embrace the thrilling possibilities that STEM holds.
Combining fun, action-packed days with a programme of evening social activities, this course is run by our experienced team of Smallpeice youth delivery experts and supervisors. Students will be shown three different areas of engineering they could study at university, covering cyber security, electrical and space engineering. The course also encourages students to get creative and improve their teamwork, communication, and leadership skills.
Engineering Experience Northern Ireland is supported by Thales in the UK. By partnering with this amazing company, we can introduce students to experts in the field and allow them to develop and test their own products with the support and guidance of people who live the engineering life every day.

Lateral thinking is a key skill that engineers need to develop, as a big part of their job involves solving complex problems. Students will experience this and learn how to develop their own approach to problem-solving by designing and making prototypes.
Alongside hands-on activities, we’ll have talks by engineers who will answer students’ questions about the realities of working in this dynamic industry and how to overcome the many challenges of a career in engineering.
