60 Stories for 60 Years: Dr Ahmad, Teacher

We were delighted to hear from Dr Mansoor Ahmad, Teacher of Science and former Enrichment Lead at Campion School in Leamington Spa. We’ve worked with Campion School since 2018, delivering STEM Days to hundreds of young people, and even piloting new programme content with their students. Here’s Dr Ahmad’s story.

How did you first get involved with The Smallpeice Trust?

I believe our school has been working with Smallpeice for a few years now. I got directly involved from last year when I had an additional role of the enrichment lead within the school.

What impact have you seen on your students who take part? Can you share a story of a student who particularly thrived as a result?

From my short experience of holding the sessions with Smallpeice, students really loved these opportunities. We usually see a different side of student on these sessions. Last year a couple of pupils from Y9 were a bit reluctant to start and one of them actually asked if he could leave right at the start. After some encouragement, he stayed and when he got involved, he really stuck into it and enjoyed it very much. At the end, he was happy he stayed.

Why do you keep coming back or recommending us?

I like Smallpiece staff. They are all very friendly and understanding. They are very professional. The sessions are organised really nicely and all the activities are aimed at the right level to the year groups.

Can you share a moment or experience that captures what The Smallpeice Trust is all about for you?

I cannot think of a one particular instance but overall you are doing an excellent job by providing these great experiences/activities for pupils, free of cost. I have always found you friendly and very flexible to work with.

With thanks to Dr Ahmad for taking the time to share history – we look forward to working with Campion School for many years to come!
