At The Smallpeice Trust, we’re fortunate to meet so many people who believe in the power of STEM to change lives. Every so often, we hear from a group whose passion for creating opportunities for young people really stands out.
That’s exactly how we felt when Quantum STEM Racing got in touch.
The team told us that they’ve always shared a collective belief that every child deserves the opportunity to discover a passion for science, technology, engineering and maths. As they looked for an organisation to support, they wanted to find one whose values reflected their own.
Inspired by our mission to inspire and empower young people through hands-on STEM experiences, they decided they wanted to help us continue reaching even more students. Rather than simply making a donation, they chose to organise a sponsored run through Sutton and Cheam, bringing their whole team together behind a cause they genuinely care about.
On 4 July, they took on the challenge, raising funds that will help us continue delivering STEM experiences that build confidence, develop skills and show young people just how many exciting opportunities STEM can offer. But the fundraiser wasn’t only about raising money. By taking their challenge into the local community, Quantum STEM Racing also helped start conversations about why STEM education matters and why it’s so important that every young person has the chance to explore where it could take them.
What makes this story particularly special is that it’s young people who are already passionate about STEM choosing to invest in the next generation. Their support is a reminder that inspiring future engineers isn’t something any one organisation does alone. It happens because individuals, teams and communities come together to create opportunities that can have a lasting impact.
